Kosovo Security Council Resolution 1244 since 1999 has established Kosovo under the auspices of the United Nations.
Thus, quarterly reports on UNMIK's work and the situation in Kosovo are regularly heard by this body.
However, as the Serbian media write, this situation may change soon. This is because, as stated, the United Kingdom takes over the chairmanship of the United Nations Security Council.
Thus UK, according to the Serbian media, may be able to demand that hearings on Kosovo be closed to the public.
"It is time for the Security Council to meet more rarely in this regard. We must focus on real threats to international peace and security. This category does not fit the situation in Kosovo," Serbian media quoted Matthew Rycroft, former UK ambassador to the UN.
The essence of all these claims, according to Serbian media, quoting former diplomat Zoran Milivojevic, is to put pressure on Serbia and the wider international community to accept the thesis that the Kosovo issue has been solved.
The Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic also reacted on this issue.
"I am sure he will seek to abolish this session and will return to closed consultations without a formal Security Council hearing. It is possible to do so in voting on procedural issues so that Russia and China will not veto. We are not here," Dacic is quoted as saying.
