Austria will shut down seven Mosques and expel 40 Smams, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announced.
During a conference with Deputy Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache and EU Affairs Minister Gernot Blumel, Kurz said this step is part of the masses against the so called "political Islam".
Kurz said that investigations into several mosques and associations carried out by the Ministry of Culture and the Interior Ministry have been completed and that the activities of the seven mosques have been prohibited, of which one belongs to the Islamic-Turkish Community (ATIB).The Austrian Chancellor added that the Imams would be deported due to foreign funding.
