US citizens arrested in Albania for synthetic drugs production

 Two US citizens wanted for manufacturing and selling synthetic drugs are arrested in Tirana.


The two Americans were declared wanted by the United States for manufacturing and selling narcotics. The arrest of two US citizens was carried out by the Criminal Police Department in the State Police in cooperation with the Serious Crimes Prosecution and the US DEA.

"In accordance with a letter from the US authorities, and after the decision of the First Instance Court for Serious Crimes for its implementation, the Criminal Police Department of State Police in cooperation with the Serious Crimes Prosecution and the US DEA after a well organized work completed successfully the operation codenamed "Sintetiku", where two US citizens are arrested: - Vincent (Dominic) De Caro, 29, born and resident in New York, USA; Arber Isaku, 29, born and resident in New York, USA," the police said.

They had a base in Tirana and, according to their first doubts, they would use it to produce synthetic drugs.

Police notification:

"The Connecticut Court in US imposed the security measure 'Arrest in jail' for the offense "Manufacturing and sale of narcotics and psychotropic substances", this offense committed through the 'dark web'. These citizens were under investigation by DEA for 1 year. They had set up a base and hiding in Tirana, where they were preparing to produce synthetic drugs. After receiving the letter of order and the decision of the Serious Crimes Court for its execution, the Criminal Police Department of the State Police, after a month of investigation in cooperation with the Serious Crimes Prosecution Office and DEA, discovered their base. During the control at the base where these citizens were hiding and carrying out the criminal activity, were found tools and precursors to be used for the preparation of synthetic drugs as well as a large number of electronic devices.

The above-mentioned citizens were kept under surveillance by the Criminal Police agents in the State Police and were arrested in Morina, attempting to leave Albania. DEA agents participated also in the operation. For investigation reasons we do not disclose any other details. The operation proves the seriousness and determination of the State Police and Prosecutor's Office to fight organized crime, the readiness to cooperate closely with law enforcement agencies in and out of the country, and reaffirmed once again the excellent trust and cooperation between the State Police, the Prosecutor's Office and the US agencies," reads the police announcement.
