The auction, considered as an important test for the credibility of the Albanian economy, has come to an end.
Albania today launched a 7-year eurobond in the international markets, through which the government received 500m euros in lending. In a telephone link from Paris, Finance Minister Arben Ahmetaj said to Oculus News that with this eurobond is possible the "replacing of a more expensive previous debt, with a cheaper and longer-term instrument."
"Markets tested the Albanian economy and reforms. The daring and indispensable reforms are rewarding us. Albania becomes a normal country, where it can be invested without fear and in the long run," said Ahmetaj.
Further, the minister insisted that this loan "is a refinancing instrument" and there will be no increase in public debt.
