The Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati attacked the Serbian politics at the "Serbs and Albanians" conference, held Wednesday in Tirana by saying that there is a "19th-century rhetoric about Kosovo that does not honor today's discussions which are focused on the process of reconciliation and normalization of relations."
"Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said that Kosovo is the heart of Serbia and Kosovars are Albanians living outside their homeland. This is the rhetoric of the nineteenth century and does not make any difference to today's discussions that are centered on reconciliation and normalization. The Albanian-Serbian relationship has an elephant in the room that is Kosovo, which has its representatives who speak in Kosovo's interest, but our position is clear: the process of normalizing relations between Kosovo and Serbia is not replaced by a good Albania- Serbia relation, but but is supplemented," Bushati said. With regard to Albania-Serbia relations, Bushati said: "The dialogue should be on sincere grounds. We have many points in common with Serbia and there is a tendency to overcome the stereotypes. Relations with Serbia are in progress. Our countries must pass the wounds of the past and there are signs for this."
