US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs, Matthew Palmer, is visiting Macedonia today.
Palmer comes to Skopje after the Macedonian Parliament's vote on the constitutional change initiative in order to implement the Prespa Accord.He comes after a visit to Belgrade stating that Macedonia has the historic and only chance to enter NATO and the EU by accepting institutionally the agreement with Greece.
The senior US official will meet with political leaders in power, including Prime Minister Zaev and Foreign Minister Dimitrov.
Palmer is also expected to have a meeting with the Macedonian opposition.
A few days before the vote on the constitutional change initiative, Assistant Secretary Wess Mitchell wrote a letter to VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski, in which he stressed that the United States are disappointed by the stance of the leaders of this party.
