Turkey remains one of the main economic and trade partners for Albania, said today the President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, in a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
Meta praised the excellent relations between the two countries and expressed gratitude for the assistance and support that Turkey has given to Albania and Albanians, especially in the last three decades.Focusing on the great opportunities of economic co-operation, President Meta expressed appreciation for the attention that President Erdoğan and the Turkish Government devote to this cooperation with Albania.
He also praised the contribution provided by Turkey through the Turkish Development Cooperation Agency, TIKA, which is already present throughout Albania.
Both interlocutors paid special attention to the latest developments in the Balkan region and the need to continue the common contribution to maintaining and strengthening peace and stability in this region.
In this regard, President Meta praised the support that Turkey has given to the recognition of independence and Kosovo's membership in regional and international organizations.
President Meta also praised Turkey's extraordinary role in coping with the humanitarian crisis of Syrian refugees and other conflicting Middle East nations.
