The Macedonian Interior Ministry issued a warrant for the former Prime Minister of this country, Nikola Gruevski, after Criminal Court informed that could not find him to hand over the decision to appear in prison.
"We inform that the Skopje Basic Court has issued a warrant arrest for Nikola Gruevski and on Monday, at 16:30 in the Sector for Internal Affairs in Skopje. Immediately after delivery, the police is acting upon request," the MIA announces.Gruevski had to personally accept the decision to commence serving two years of imprisonment for abuse of office in the case of the purchase of a luxury vehicle worth of 600 thousand euros.
Some media in Macedonian language speculated on the possibility of his escape from Macedonia, but this was not confirmed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Before rejecting the request for postponement of serving the sentence, the Macedonian Parliament has failed to secure two-thirds of the vote to remove the mandate of Gruevski, now a deputy.
Gruevski is also being tried in several other judicial processes for further abuse of official duty, electoral fraud, commissioned violence against former opposition leaders in a municipality of Skopje and financial misuse.
