Greece's Supreme Court will consider a decision to sentence a woman to 10 years in prison after lying for her education in order to gain a job as a charwoman.
Activists and social media users have defended her, considering this decision as "inhuman".The 53-year-old worked as a cleaner in a nursery for 15 years before being verified in 2014, where it was discovered to have falsified the elementary school certificate.
The woman claimed that she had completed her primary education but had actually left school one year before the end.
The cleaning woman, who has not been identified, was sentenced by a regional Court this week on charges of fraud, the Athens News Agency reported.
Human rights activists have condemned the verdict by calling it "simply inhuman"
Also, social networking users have turned to the protection of the women, saying killers are punished less than a cleaning woman who has cheated on her CV.
The Greek Supreme Court will review the case next week.
