Kosovo supports Ukraine's territorial integrity as an independent and sovereign state within its internationally recognized borders.
The Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs voiced his stance through a statement that the Republic of Kosovo objected to the holding of "elections" on 11 November 2018 in the so-called "People's Republic of Donetsk and Luhansk", as this, as stated, is against the spirit of the Minsk Agreements, which regulate the organization of local elections in that region."The Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers that this outdated process could undermine all the efforts made so far to achieve peace in the region and calls on all parties to respect and implement the Minsk Agreements, which are vital to achieving a stable and peaceful solution for the eastern Ukraine conflict," the communiqué says.
Separatists supported by Russia in eastern Ukraine held Sunday elections, which were considered "illegal" by Kiev and the West. The United States and the European Union said Sunday's elections will further hinder efforts to end the conflict between government forces and separatists in eastern Ukraine, killing more than 10,300 people since April 2014.
