The Interior Minister Sandër Lleshaj signed with his Croatian counterpart Davor Božinović last week an agreement to strengthen cooperation in the area of border security of the two countries.
This agreement between the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Albania on strengthening the cooperation in the field of border security follows that signed in 2014 between the governments of the two countries for police co-operation and aims effective fight against all cross-border threats.The agreement provides for areas of cooperation, relevant structures for its implementation, forms of information exchange, etc.
Under the agreement, the Parties undertake to strengthen mutual co-operation in order to prevent irregular migration and threats to the security of the borders of the participating countries. This provides joint operations and mutual logistical support.
Minister Lleshaj was part of the delegation led by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who paid an official visit to Croatia, within the framework of the Summit of the Prime Ministers of the Central European Initiative. They also met with Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković and the Prime Minister of the country, Andrej Plenković.
