During 2019 is expected to be realised the project of deepening of Durrës Port basin.
This statement was made by the executive director of the Durres Port Authority (DPA), Afrim Bakaj, during the year-end meeting with representatives of local and central media, following the congratulations on the occasion of the holiday season.Bakaj emphasised that this project will be available after 14 years and will be funded by the Port Authority itself, with a figure of 8.6 million euros.
Durrës Port Authority Chief Executive Officer, Afrim Bakaj said that this is the largest investment that the DPA undertakes with its budget.
The depth predicted at the end of the project reaches 10.5 meters, from the current depth of 7.5 meters.
According to Bakaj, the deepening will allow ships to enter and be processed ships carrying up to 1000 containers.
On berths can also be anchored vessels of up to 174 meters length.
The procurement process has begun and the finalisation is expected, according to the legislation in force in the Republic of Albania.
The deepening should be completed within 5 months.
