The women and children are the most affected groups when it comes to domestic violence.
In Albania, the Kukes Region has the highest percentage of children who have suffered violence in proportion to the total number of violated in each city.The violated children in the Kukes district accounted for 25% of the total number in Albania, a much higher percentage than in other cities.
At the country level, the total number of abused children was about 6.2% of reported cases of violence. Tirana ranks second after Kukës, where the abused children accounted to 7.8% of the total, followed by Korça where the abused children were as much as 6.9% of the total.
Although the District of Durres has the highest rate of abused women, according to the figures published by Albanian Istitute of Statistics (INSTAT), regarding the violence of children ranks among the counties where the violated children occupy a small percentage in relation to the total abused children in Albania, with 3.5%.
The lowest percentage of abused children are in the citis of Durrës, Debar and Berat.
The domestic violence is growing
Despite the difficulty of measuring it, the data reported by the General Directorate of Police indicate that during 2013-2017 there is an increase in the number of reports of domestic violence.
At the country level, in 2017 there are 4,407 domestic violence victims, with the highest absolute number being seen in the districts of Tirana and Durrës, while the lowest in the districts of Kukës and Dibra. In 2017, this rate marks 15.3 violated for 10 thousand inhabitants.
The cities with the highest rate are Durrës with 20.8 violated, followed by Berat with 19.0 violated for 10 thousand inhabitants.
