Today, Albania is the country with the lowest amount of gold in Europe. We have only 1.6 tons of gold. This figure has been made public a while ago in an analysis of the Italian newspaper focused on economy 'Il Sole ventiquatro ore'.

The figure of 1.6 tonnes is much smaller than the amount of gold that other countries in the region have. Thus, Bosnia and Herzegovina has 4 tons of gold reserves, Macedonia 6.8 tons and Serbia 17.7 tons.

The economiy experts explain to us how important a country's gold reserves are for the economy.

"The way to inherit the wealth, our savings throughout history, the gold has always been the best and safest shield. And if we look at each time of when there are crisis periods, all the central banks all over the World are shifting from banknote to gold. They see it perhaps as a safe shield to preserve the value of the wealth of their nations. That is why central banks around the world are heading to safer assets such as gold. So its role in inheriting the assets remains irreplaceable," said the economy expert Selami Xhepa in an interview to Top Channel.
