"We are determined to help Kosovo and this is what we told to our Kosovar colleagues last week, they should strongly believe in Germany's support." This is what German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said to the German newspaper Stuttgarder Nachrichten.
"We want a European perspective for Kosovo, while the reforms that have been carried out so far are impressive and must be accepted," Maas said, confirming Germany's further financial support to Kosovo.The German government considers wrong if the EU and Germany give up the support for Kosovo, including the financial aid.
"If this happens, for a short time, everything that has been achieved with a great deal for a long time will collapse."
Although 20 years after the end of the war, in which NATO and its partners in Kosovo were engaged, Maas confirms further the continuation of Germany's financial assistance to this country. Asked by Stuttgarter Nachriten on this issue, German Foreign Minister Maas said: "We want a European perspective for the Western Balkans and for Kosovo. Reforms that have been carried out there are impressive and must be accepted," he said.
In addition to direct financial assistance from Germany, Kosovo has received more than 350m euros from the European Union within 2014-2017. Meanwhile, for the one-year period 2018 - 2019, the European Union has foreseen 295.3 million Euros for Kosovo.
According to the article of the German newspaper Stuttgarder Nachrichten, the financial support of the European Union for Kosovo accounts for almost a third of Kosovo's state budget.
