"The flu situation in Greece remains at a high level, the type of the virus that is dominating is that of type A (Η1Ν1)", announced on Thursday the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO), an institution under the Greek Ministry of Health.
According to KEELPNO, from February 6 to 10, a total of 149 cases of influenza are recorded, of which 99 per cent or 119 cases were type A, 101 cases were Η1Ν1 and the rest Η3Ν2; while at least 40 patients are being treated in intensive care units.According to epidemiologists, the influenza A is currently very widespread across Europe and the most vulnerable are the elderly and people with chronic illnesses.
The epidemiologists warns that the H1N1 virus is still in the proliferation phase and have called on Greek citizens to be vaccinated as soon as possible.
