State Police has come out at a press conference today, regarding the protest announced for tomorrow in front of the Parliament of Albania. Calling on political entities to distance themselves from violence, police say there is information that there will be violence and the intention is to enter inside the Parliament.
The police statementThe State Police, in accordance with the law "On the Rallies", and in support of the right of the organization of peaceful citizens gatherings, has taken all the measures for the progress of the protest announced by the opposition to be held on February 21, 2019. State Police is fully committed to guaranteeing public order and security, as well as the inviolability of institutions during the protests. From the information collected by the relevant services, there are data on violence inciting and criminal activities. Is aimed the fprced entry into the Parliament Hall, exerting violence on the staff with the legal obligation to secure the protection of the basic institution of democracy.
To prevent any such possibility, the State Police calls firstly and foremost to the organizers to distance openly themselves from violence and appeal for the respectation of the law by every protestor. Also, the State Police appeals to all those who want to exercise the freedom of assembly tomorrow and the right to protest, so that they will not be involved in any case and for no reason in punishable actions by the law.
