The intervention of the Albanian guards has proved successful in saving a ship at risk of sinking.
It is about a Velera ship tittlet "Sea Shell" with three people on board.The ship came from Dubrovnik to Saranda, and suddenly suffered a defect.
While two Albanian coastal guard ships rescued the ship and transported it to the port of Saranda, rescuing also the people on board.
The Ministry of Defense (MD) reacted to the event, revealing that the three persons on board were of Israeli citizenship.
"The Velera Sea Shell with the American flag, departed from Dubronik to destination Saranda, sailing at the entrance to the Corfu Channel suffered a defect in the engines and issued the SOS signal.
Upon receipt of the notice, the Coast Guard engaged the P-03 and P-05 ships of Naval Fleet. After the identification and the contact, the Velera was towed to the port of Saranda by rescuing also the sailor and the three people on board, the three with Israeli citizenship: Captain Tsafrir Lederman and the crew, Mosquito Moshe Navot and Liana Navot," reads the MD notification.
