Euro is a favorite currency of Albanian savers. Bank of Albania data reported in the respective currency indicate that euro deposits at the end of 2018 amounted to 4 billion euros, an increase of 10% on an annual basis or about 370 million euros more.
This is the highest ever recorded share of common currency savings.The increase in euro deposits in 2018 was much higher compared to the previous year, when they increased by only 68 million euros.
In 2018 the growth was due to household demand deposits and non-financial corporate savings.
