The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, met today in Tirana with the Secretary of State of the Holy Father Pope Francis, the Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
Meta expressed deep gratitude for the great attention that the Holy Father, Pope Francis and the Holy See devote to Albania and the Albanians."The early links of friendship between the Albanians and the Holy See have now been revitalized and intensified more than ever," Meta underlined.
While referring to Cardinal Parolin's visit to Tirana, Meta expressed gratitude for the support that the Holy See has given and gives to the development of various social projects, especially in education and health.
Both interlocutors discused on the latest developments in the Balkan region, underlining the importance of developing dialogue, co-existence and co-operation for the European future of the region.
Also, the head of state shared with friends in "Facebook" moments of meeting with the secretary of Pope Francis, who among other things writes: "I am pleased to welcome the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. Grateful for the strong and constant support of the Vatican for Albania and Albanians. Relations between Albania and Vatican today are stronger than before."
