A few weeks, Erkand Qerimaj was confirmed as the winner of the bronze medal at the Weightlifting World Championship held in Anaheim, USA, about two years ago.
In that championship, the Albanian sportsman is ranked fourth after the Romanian Dumitru, but the latter proved positive in anti-doping tests, forcing him to hand over the medal to Qerimaj, which got it simbolicly on Monday's afternoon ceremony.For Qerimaj this medal came in the right time, as weightlifting is proving to be the only sport in Albania that has these successes.
While for the President of the Albanian Weightlifting Federation, Theodhor Masllavica, this medal of Qerimaj looks like a resumption of this sport.
Next week in Georgia will be held the European Weightlifting Championships and the Albanian sportsmen have already started their preparations for this event.
Is expected for the Albanians to win some medals.
