The statistics show that Albanian women have the highest percentage of participation in the Labor Force compared to the region. The Our World database has illustrated a map based on the percentage of women in the labor force. In order to build this map, Our Wolrd is referred to the ILO figures (International Labor Organization).
In 2017 (the year of reference for all countries in the world), the participation of women in the labor force in Albania was 47.22%, leaving behind Serbia with 45.85% of women participating in the labor force.The percentage is even lower in Macedonia and Montenegro, where according to published data the percentage of women participating in the workforce is respectively 42.46% and 42.15%. While Bosnia and Herzegovina ranks last with 35.16% of women participating in the workforce. For Kosovo, the data portal has not published the figures, but women's participation in the labor force is relatively lower than in other countries in the region.
The participation of women in Labor Force in Albania has always been higher than the region. According to the data set of since 1990 (see graph below).
Some countries where over 60% of women participate in the workforce are Canada with 60.6% of women participating in the workforce, China with 61%, Peru with 68% and African countries where most women are employed in the agricultural sector.
In Europe, three are the countries where the labor force participation is below 40%: Italy with 39.5%, Bosnia and Herzegovina with 35.16% and Moldova with 39.45%. Other countries in the world that have a low level of participation of women in the labor force are the countries of the Maghreb (North Africa) and the Middle East countries along with India.
