 Law Faculty in Novi Sad

The Court of Appeals in Novi Sad (Serbia) has considered as discriminating the decision of the Law Faculty in this country, which obliges students to undergo the Serbian language entrance exam.

In this case, the Law on Education of Serbia was also discriminatory, which foresees the control of the recognition of the Serbian language in the entrance exams.

The judgment of the Court of Appeal of Serbia was taken on the basis of the double suit of the non-governmental organization of the League of Hungarian Students of Vojvodina.

For the first time this organization sued the Law Faculty in 2015 due to discrimination, ie the inability of students to pass the entrance examination in their mother tongue.

On this occasion, at the beginning of last year, the Novi Sad Court of Appeals obliged the Faculty of Law to organize in the future the entrance exams in the languages of national minorities, with the assessment that by refusing to do so, the faculty acted in a discriminatory way.
