Xhavit Hysenaj, on behalf of the membership of the Association of Albanian Growers, Producers and Exporters of Essences and Plants of Albania (EPCA), as the chairman of this association, demanded a lot of attention for these industries, which have high development potential in terms of exports and employment.
He said that in 2018, the industry of medicinal herbs realized more than lek 4.5 billion of exports, as well as the industrialization of the medical and aromatic plant industry."Some companies, members of EPCA, reached the amount of over lek 500 million exports per year, helping significantly the Albanian economy and families, as well as the state budget by paying the taxes according to the law.
We judge that the achievements of the past year were significant but did not show the real possibilities of this industry in Albania," Hysenaj said.
"This was the reason that, for a long time, in cooperation with the academic staff of the Agricultural University of Tirana and the intellectual capacities of our association, we encouraged and conducted an in-depth study to assess the optimum capacity of this industry to multiply the number of employees and quadruple the exports, of course without requiring any
funding from the state budget for this purpose," he added.
