The head of the First Section in the Italian General Antimafia Directorate, General Antonio Basilicata has warned Albania that may be affected by Pugliese Mafia.
In an interview to "Ora" television, Basilicata said the cooperation between the Puglia and Albanian groups could be relocated to Albania as a result of tourism developments in the coming years."Albanian crime in Italy has a privileged relationship with drug trafficking that brings big sums of money, but also deals with other kind of crimes if can.
But there is another point worth mentioning, may be convenient for the Pugliese crime to come and invest in Albania, as Albania is predicted to be a developing country in the future. I do not rule out that Albania must take measures against the possible influences of the Pugliese and Italian criminality towards Albania," said Antonio Basilicata.
The general said that Albanians have consolidated their positions in drug trafficking in Italy, and there is evidence that they also collaborate with the Calabrian mafia Ndrageta.
"Regarding drug trafficking, the criminal groups, in addition to the incriminating relationship in the Puglia region, there is also judicial evidence of their connection to the Calabrian Mafia, Ndrageta, by establishing relationships between them. Some recent operations have also revealed in the Italian Adriatic area the existence of Albanian criminal groups and their links with Italian criminality," he continued.
According to General, Albania is also a transit route for heroin coming from Afghanistan and Turkey.
