Immediately after the approval of the Kosovo Assembly of the proposed resolution by the LDK for the suspension of the activity of casinos and gambling, began the action against these activites now illegal.
The Kosovo Tax Administration decided immediately to close all the gambling stores that are exercising these activities until a second decision. Kosovo Police has provided details of the operation in which 1 thousand police officers, customs and TAK were engaged.According to official data, a total of 235 gambling stores were checked. So far, 35 local gambling stores have been closed and are seizedabout 118 gambling slot machines.
Kosovar media say that from the field survey, most of the betting points and casinos have been closed or are in the process of closing down, while should be mentioned here that a good part of them had been displaced to Kosovo in recent months after the ban of activity in Albania.
The initiative to close the gambling stores and casinos in Kosovo came after the killings that were registered last week at a casino in Suva Reka and Lipjan.
The resolution adopted earlier in parliament took the votes of 74 MPs and now, within 30 days, the Government should send to the Assembly the law prohibiting all types of gambling for a 10-year period.
