"At least 49% of the French are frustrated, frightened or dissatisfied, and 39% of them want radical change. At least 81% of the French think elites are against them," according to the poll.

The French have the highest percentage even when it comes to leaving the EU.

They rank first with 17%, then Austrians 13, then Germans 11, the Italians 8% and Poles and Spaniards 7 percent.

The survey was conducted by a consortium of European research institutes, including the Italian SWG Institute, the German INSA, the French IFOP, the Spanish SIGMA DOS and the IBRiS Polish institute.
