Among the six largest European countries, France has the most frustrated public opinion, according to a survey covering Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria and Poland.
The survey, featured on the eve of the May European elections, concludes that 87% of the French have negative feelings, while the Spaniards this feeling is 86%, the Poles 67%, the Italians 63% and the Germans 61%."At least 49% of the French are frustrated, frightened or dissatisfied, and 39% of them want radical change. At least 81% of the French think elites are against them," according to the poll.
The French have the highest percentage even when it comes to leaving the EU.
They rank first with 17%, then Austrians 13, then Germans 11, the Italians 8% and Poles and Spaniards 7 percent.
The survey was conducted by a consortium of European research institutes, including the Italian SWG Institute, the German INSA, the French IFOP, the Spanish SIGMA DOS and the IBRiS Polish institute.
