The Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, visited Albania today, where he discussed a closer economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Prime Minister Rama said that the "relations between the two countries have never been better than today, and that our countries have a common understanding of a common economic zone with maximum border facilities, similar to Kosovo and Montenegro."The Prime Minister Zaev said "there is room to deepen the cooperation between the two countries, while citizens expect to advance their economy and have a better standard of living." According to him, the economy of North Macedonia grew last year, thanks to foreign investments and regional cooperation, bilateral trade exchanges with Albania, also telling the EU that Skopje and Tirana are getting ready for membership.
The bilateral trade exchanges are on the rise. Meanwhile, some infrastructure investments on both sides of the border will help to better circulation and cooperation between the two countries. The two countries have agreed to facilitate the transit of people and goods on both sides of the border.
15 months ago was organized a joint meeting of the two governments, and by the middle of this year a second meeting is being prepared between them. Albania is among the first to ratify NATO's membership in North Macedonia, a process that can be closed by the end of the year. Both countries are also on a common path towards the EU.
