Tirana has been selected as one of the five candidate cities to be elected as the European Youth Capital 2022. Out of dozens of cities in Europe that applied, among the five finalist cities are ranked Tirana along Kazan (Russia), Poznań (Poland), Varaždin (Croatia) and Baia Mare (Romania).
The final cities for EYC 2022 were selected by an independent panel such as the European Parliament, the Committee of the Regions, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, etc.The Municipality of Tirana has undertaken a number of initiatives in the organization and support of youth activities such as Tirana Art Fest, European Week, Open Day of EU Education, Start Up Youth Days, Youth Networking and Business Days.
