Erion Veliaj at News 24 |
No doubt, Erion Veliaj, the current mayor of the capital will be officially proclaimed as the Socialist Party (SP) candidate for this municipality in the June 30th elections.
Invited to the morning show "Time to Awaken" with Bashkim Hoxha in News 24, Veliaj said that the announcement of the candidacy will be done tomorrow at 11:00 at Skenderbeg Square."We have invited all the citizens of Tirana, not only those who are members of the SP, there are many Democrats who in some way say it hard, have seen the way the municipality worked, the value of the property has increased, there have been community development. And I believe that in the municipality, in the management of the city, people are less politicized. They see more kindergartens, schools, parks, clean environment ect. So I look forward to meeting tomorrow many of good friends, Democrats, who say Tirana is in the right direction. Well or badly, it may not be our party, but things are going for good. We will also have this session from 11:00 to 13:00, then to return to the Congress Palace for several sessions," Veliaj said.
Another novelty he discovered today is the fact that for the first time with the candidacy, Veliaj would also announce the list of municipal councils.
"We decided that tomorrow, which is fixed 100 days before the elections, we have 100 candidates for Tirana for several reasons. First, if you take or not participate in some of the political parties, we should be prepared to populate the entire list of 61 candidates. But there is something more. The Tirana List has always produced talents for the national scene as well. In the recent elections, the most distinguished councilors of the Tirana Municipal Council, became deputies, some received other important duties, and had to leave the council's mandate. They will re-run in different positions, those who have already been and have been tried in the Municipal Council, but will be getting as young as possible. People with many personalities from different fields, even in the event that some parties do not represent their voters, will be assured that there are representatives of different categories of Tirana, different professions or different backgrounds in order every citizen feels represented, despite the colors of the parties, at least in the colors of the profession, the residence, and all the community advocacy," Veliaj said.
