The import of weapons of Albania has fallen significantly over the last 3 years.
The data of the Stockholm Peace Institute show that Albania has imported weapons worth of $ 5 million in 2016-2017-2018.The data are updated as the previous ones belonged to 2015. Thus, the latest data from the Sipri Institute show that in 2016 there were zero weapons imports; in 2017, $ 4 million, and in 2018, $ 1 million weapons imports.
In 2015, the weapons imports in Albania were $ 7 million.
These weapons, ie 5 million dollars imported since 2015, are in all cases tanks, 3, used and armed. These tanks have been commissioned since 2016 by the Albanian Government.
America enters the stage
What is noticeable from the commercial register is the fact that for the first time, the United States has entered the scene as an arms importer in Albania.
Even in the last three years, they are the only importer of weapons in our country, by "removing" from the scenes countries such as Germany, France or China.
These three countries have dominated the weapons imports market in our country since the '90s.
France is the first with $ 29 million imported weapons, China is second with $ 26 million, Germany with $ 11 million, Italy with $ 9 million, while America is already entering with $ 5 million, though in just three years. Albania ranks 126th in the world among 150 economics in terms of arms imports, with Saudi Arabia holding first place.
Since the 1990s, arms imports in our country amounted to $ 79 million, while for exports the figures show zero, writes SCAN.
