The World Bank has revealed that around 4.3% of children in Albania are not enrolled or have abandoned the primary school. While worrying is the fact that this phenomenon is problematic even for adolescents.

These data rank Albania at an average level compared to the region, with the highest percentage is Macedonia accounting for about 8.29%.

Only in 2017 about 6,000 boys and girls have abandoned pre-university education. Linda Pino, co-coordinator of the education coalition, in an interview with Ora News, cites several causes.

"First, it is about girls coming from the Roma and Egyptian communities who go to the 5th grade and then due to their cultures and because of the conditions they do not attend further the school."

The elimination of such phenomena according to Pino would come first from the increase in the budget for education.

"Currently, the 2.9% of the ministry's education budget goes to public pre-university education. Meanwhile, 5% of GDP is allocated to education in the country. We are far from this figure"

Albania has recorded the lowest value of children abandoning the school in 2014, according this data, the children without or out of the school were at 3.8%.
