A super-operation carried out at midnight by Italian Police led to the arrest of two Albanians who were escaping the police chase with their speedboad on the waters of Santa Maria di Leuca, on the shores of Puglia, with a ton and of a half of marijuana onboard.
In carrying out the operation, they are helped by the Italian air force and naval forces, which have led to the seizure of a powerful speedboad. Though they tried in vain to not lose the burden and continue their journey without stopping, but the end was known.On board of the 10-meter-long speedboad are seized 21 packets of narcotics, containing nearly 1.531 kg of marijuana, which if would be sold in the black market its cost is about 15 million euros. The two riders running the speedboad with two super powerful engines were stopped and will face the accusation of international narcotics trafficking.
Everything was the fruit of a cooperation between local and national authorities, in the "Themis 2019" operation, coordinated by the EU's Frontex External Borders Agency.
