Fabjan Alameti |
US authorities said a person originating from Albania speaking to join ISIS and avenging last month's attacks on New Zealand mosques was arrested in a Montana state police.
Officials said in a statement that Fabjan Alameti had recently traveled to Montana from New York and he is charged of false statements and equiped with illegal weapons.Defense attorney John Rhodes told VOA that the matter is expected to be forwarded to a large jury, which may formally file the charges.
An FBI agent said in Court that Alamet was interviewed once in 2018 and that he later made pro-ISIS comments on Facebook.
According to the agent, Alameti talked with an informer to join ISIS in Iraq and Syria and to undertake an attack on a US military facility.
But according to the agent, Alamet said later that he did not plan to undertake such an attack after the United States had granted the citizenship to him.
Authorities said that this are purely accusations and that Alameti is presumed innocent if he is not found guilty. If found guilty, he faces up to 10 years imprisonment and a $ 250,000 fine.
