Arab arrested for selling Albanian passports for € 20,000

 Tirana police have arrested for fraud an Arabian citizen living in Tirana, who together with two Albanian citizen promised Albanian passports to foreigners in exchange of 20,000 euro.

The Economic and Financial Crime Unit, in cooperation with the Tirana District Prosecutor's Office, in the framework of the operation codenamed "Acceleration", arrested Talal Ahmed Abu Mayha, 41, born in the United Arab Emirates and resident in Tirana.

Also in the framework of this operation, citizen E. M., 40 years old, was declared wanted and the citizen M. M., 49 years of age (both Albanian citizens) is declared wanted.

These citizens, in co-operation with each other, being camouflaged as investors and investment partners in Albania, promised to Egyptian foreign nationals who expressed interest that they could provide them with passports of the Albanian state for amounts ranging from over 20,000 euro.

From the investigations carried out, it has been proved that the aforementioned citizens between a twinning office between the United Arab Emirates and Tirana have received considerable amounts of money to citizens in the euro promising them residence permits and Albanian passports (but have not made it possible nor the application for a document such as a passport and a residence permit due to the strict rules and documents required by the border office and migration).

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office of the First Instance Court of Tirana, in charge of the abovementioned citizens, for the criminal offenses "Fraud", and "Non-payment of taxes", provided by Articles 143/2, 180 and 181 of the Criminal Code.
