Edoardo Reja will be the new coach of the Albanian National Football Team. The 73-year-old technician will replace Christian Panucci and his formalization is just a matter of hours. Reja has reached the agreement with the president of the Albanian Football Federation, Armando Duka, and is expected to be presented tomorrow publicelly; he is expected to lead the Albanian team until the end of the Euro 2020 qualifiers.
The Italian was the favorite candidate out of Alberto Zaccheroni or Roberto Donadoni. Edoardo Reja was present in March at Loro Boriçi stadium in Shkodra to follow closely the meeting between Albania and Turkey where the we lost with the clean score of 0-2.The first match for the 73-year-old coach will be on June 8 against Iceland, and three days later he will lead Albania to the new stadium National Arena.
In his past, Edoardo Reja has lead teams like Lazio, Napoli and Atalanta. Since 2016, he was not employed in any team or national team.
