The Basic Court in Pristina found guilty the former Health Minister Ferid Agani, and Gani Shabani, former secretary of this ministry, on allegations of misuse of official duty and illegal benefits related to the case known as "Stenting".
Through a press release, the Basic Court in Pristina - Serious Crimes Department has announced that former Minister Ferid Agani was sentenced to prison for two years and six months, while former secretary Gani Shabani was sentenced to jail for two years."The Court has established that the defendant (Ferid Agani), in the capacity of the former Minister of Health and G.Sh (Gani Shabani), as former Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, had misused their official position in order to securing the unlawful profitability of the property for himself or others," reads the Court's statement.
The former Minister Agani and former Secretary Shabani were charged with violating the Public Procurement Law and Administrative Instructions of the Ministry of Health and have allowed payments for treatment of patients outside public health institutions during 2011-2015.
