The European universities have been the choice for many Albanian students to complete various cycles of higher education. The number of graduates from Albania to the EU universities has increased in recent academic years.
In 2016, according to Eurostat data, 2477 students from Albania graduated in the tertiary system, about 7% more compared to the previous year, which was 2312 graduates. For 2017, Eurostat has not yet published data for all member states. In the tertiary system, are included several study cycles: Bachelor's degrees, second-cycle graduates and PhD students.In 2017, they received a Bachelor's Degree in one of the EU universities of 1341 Albanian students, about 1038 have been graduated from the Master's degree and have completed their PhD degree about 99 Albanian candidates.
Most of them are graduated in Italian universities, with 67% of the total. After Italy, with a considerable margin is ranked Greece, where 112 Albanians are graduated in all the three levels (5% of the total), followed by England with 101 students and Germany with 91 students. In terms of master studies, 1,038 Albanian students has been graduated, of which 693 female students. While 99 completed the PhD.
