Kosovo-Serbia tensions interrupted the Climate Conference in Tirana

The international Climate Conference in the Western Balkans has been interrupted due to tensions between Kosovo and Serbia. The delegations from Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia gathered in Tirana to make aware the Ambassadors and Western donors to finance on climate projects in the Balkans.

But Serbia's delegation insisted that Kosovo could not be represented with its national flag and that it should participate in the UNMIK Mission in Kosovo. Kosovo's Minister of Environment, Fatmir Matoshi, considered this proposal inadmissible and abandoned the conference together with the Albanian representative. The conference continued, but only with the presence of the technical experts of Kosovo and Serbia.

UNMIK has governed Kosovo from 1999 until 2008 after NATO intervention to stop the Serbian massacre against Kosovars.
