Montenegro needs 20,000 seasonal workers on the coast

According to estimates of the Montenegrin Employment Office, this season are needed about 20,000 seasonal workers.

The Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Kemal Purishic said that one of the key priorities in the work of the Government is to achieve economic development as a prerequisite for raising the living standard of citizens. He added that "labor force must become more competitive before Montenegro will join the European Union, as later, by labor market liberalization, human resources will try to go to EU countries."

The Montenegrin Tourist Association President Zarko Radulovic said Montenegro has not enough work labour strength.

"We in tourism need about five to seven thousand workers. Our people do not want to work because there are small wages according to them," Radulovic noted. Unlike, seasonal workers' salaries in Montenegro are around 500 euros, and in the region the highest wages are only in Croatia.
