Montenegro seeks the use of Montenegrin language in Serbia

The Montenegrin Party (Crnogorska Partija - CP) has sent a letter to the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, warning him that the citizens of the Montenegrin community are been discriminated in Vrbas municipality, Vojvodina.

This party has addressed to Vucic after the Mayor of the Municipality of Vrbas declaration, Milan Glush, that this municipality "will not act according to the law and will not put into use the Montenegrin language, although all legal conditions have been fulfilled for that purpose" Belgrade-based newspaper Danas reports.

The Montenegrin party writes that Glush's statement, representing Vucic's Progressive Party, that Vushtrri municipality will not enforce the law enabling the use of Montenegrin language, proves that Serbia is continuing to discriminate the citizens belonging to the Montenegrin community.

"For the disappointment of the Montenegrin community, the current local administration led by the Serbian Progressive Party on the issue of Montenegrin language behaves the same as the previous leadership," reads the letter to Vucic.

The Montenegrin party has asked Vucic to exercise his authority and influence local authorities in Vushtrri to implement the law on the use of Montenegrin language in this municipality.
