"The increasing of economic cooperation and increasing of Qatar's investments in strategic projects in our country is of interest to Albania," said the Assembly Speaker Gramoz Ruçi, during a meeting with Qatar Parliament Speaker Ahmad bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud.
At the helm of a parliamentary delegation, Ruçi is on these days for an official visit to Qatar.During his meeting with his counterpart, Ruçi praised the relations between the two countries, while underlining that the signed agreements should begin to be implemented so that citizens and enterprises benefit from these.
"I want to highlight the activation of signed economic and trade agreements and accelerate those underway, accelerate Qatar Government's actions to facilitate and remove visas for Albanians, the cooperation in the field of air transport and Qatar Airways direct flight Doha-Tirana. etc." Ruçi said.
Qatar Parliament Speaker Ahmad bin Ambudullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud noted that the State of Qatar is very interested and determined to expand and strengthen co-operation with Albania as a friendly country.
"I will urge the government and the Katar companies to carefully consider the proposals of the Albanian side and to respond to them with concrete cooperation initiatives," underlined al-Mahmoud.
Albania is also interested in cooperating with Qatar in the framework of international organizations. In this context, Qatar is supporting Albania for the country in the UN Security Council for the years 2022-23 and Albania will support Qatar for a non-permanent member country in the Security Council for the years 2042-43.
Ruçi also called for Qatar's support for Kosovo's membership in Interpol.
Both sides expressed the interest in exchanging views on developments in the respective regions. Ruçi underlined that Albania wants a quick solution to Qatar disagreements with neighboring countries through political dialogue and avoidance of escalation, and that stability and peace in and around the Gulf countries is important for the region and beyond, in the framework of the fight against terrorism and economic cooperation.
