The Defense Minister of Albania, Olta Xhaçka wrote on Facebook:
"Another painful news comes from Latvia. The commander of the Albanian contingent in the NATO Enhanced Forward Presence mission, the Major Klodian Tanushi lost a few moments ago the last battle with his life. With heart and soul we are close to his family, wife and three children in this day of mourning. He will miss them, but he will miss to all of us and those who had the fortune to know him. You will remain forever in the mind of our heart, Klodi, our friend."
Major Klodian Tanushi was injured after the explosion of the mine that killed Zarife Hasanaj.
Klodian Nikolla TANUSHI was born in Debar on October 31, 1980, the first child of the Tanushi family. Married and with three children (two boys and one girl) respectively 14 years, 11 years and 1 and a half years.
In 1999 he completed the high school "Nazmi Rushiti" in the profile "Generic motorist". From 2000 to 2003 he attended the Skanderbeg Military Academy.
He has conducted EOD Level 1 Efficient Training Programs "On the Destruction of Explosive Ammunition."
He attended the course "EUFOR Mine Awareness Instructor Course".
Upon completion of the Academy there is a titular officer and by order no. 9628 dated 09.18.2003 he received the rank of "Sub-Lieutenant". In 2006 he received the rank of "Lieutenant", in 2010 he received the rank of "Captain" and in 2017 received the rank of "Major".
During his military career he has performed duties such as: Unit Commander, Commander Company, Head of Section, Operations Specialist. Currently he is in charge of the First Ego Commodity Commander.
On 12.20.2018, was sent to the NATO Military Operation mission in Riga, Latvia, consisting of the Canadian Group Battalion, with the mandate of the Commander of the Albanian Contingent and a senior military representative with a six-month stay.
During his career he was awarded with the "Career Medal" by the Force Commander, the "Service" Medal by the Chief of General Staff, the Outbound Mission Service Medal, and the Medal for "Participating in International Services" by the Minister of Defense.
