Federiaca Mogherini |
Albania's Prime Minister, Edi Rama, held a meeting on wendsday with the European diplomat Federica Mogherini.
At the joint press conference held at the headquarters of the Albanian Government, they were focused on some important issues such as the process of Albania's EU integration, regional cooperation, recent political developments in Albania and other issues.Rama stressed that during the meeting they discussed about the Berlin Summit, the challenges of regional cooperation and interaction, and the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia.
"We talked about the reforms undertaken, our expectation on the eve of the Progress Report of the European Commission, and the further progress of all efforts in order to deepen reforms and transform all aspects of the country's life. It is no secret that we expect only one response from the European Commission: the answer that we have fully completed the homework and deserve the opening of the accession negotiations," Rama said.
He stressed that Albania speaks with the language of the results on which, according to him, should also be judged.
While Mogherini, talking about the recent political developments in Albania, said: "We believe that the political parties should not turn their back to the democratic processes and responsibilities they have towards their citizens."
Addressing to the Prime Minister Rama, she said, "You have continued to show concrete results of your engagement on reforms. I believe you are already moving into an inherent process of justice reform. What has been achieved with justice reform remains unprecedented not only in this region. You have managed to have a reform in the justice system that would be an example for some of the member states of the European Union."
"I believe it is an achievable objective, that is, the opening of negotiations in June, but it is not easy. Each of our member states has to be fully respected. I believe that this joint effort requires all sides to be united to Albania's European integration objective," Mogherini said.
As for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue process, she said: "Dialogue is theirs, it is not about us. We not only respect the negotiating positions of each party, but we also take our role very seriously."
Mogherini visits Albania in the framework of the next Brdo-Brijuni Process Summit, to be held in Tirana on Thursday.
