The Albanian Prime Edi Rama said in an interview to the Serbian media  that the Albanians of Albania and those of Kosovo, although living in two different states, is now the time for them to get united.

He sees this union of Albanians as part of the EU path.

"The Albanians in Albania and Kosovo are brothers who now live in two different countries and have to be united," said Rama at TV Pink. T

He emphasizes that hi is up for an open region, which does not have to remain isolated due to the borders with the Western Balkan countries.

"I do not like the border with Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia. We have to work to make it happen," he added.

The country's prime minister also spoke about the hot spot of recognizing Kosovo's independence. According to him, the Serbian state must accept the reality and recognize the independence of Kosovo as soon as possible.

"The need for reconciliation is inevitable, and as far as Serbia continues to believe in this dream that this has not happened or that it can prevent it, it will be more painful for everyone," he said.

Rama is focused also on the so-called "Greater Albania" term, adding that this term was designed to be used against the Albanians. The chief executive asserted that Albanians and Serbs should have done more for the Western Balkans just as France and Germany did for Europe.

He also commented on the Albanian symbol of the two-headed eagle. He told to the Serbian media that this is the symbol of Albanians and in essence does not convey anything bad to others.
