The head of a criminal group suspected of having trafficked in some European countries over 1.5 tonnes of cocaine has been arrested. The 51-year-old Astrit Beqiri, a resident of Shkodra, was arrested by local police, supported by police forces in Tirana and Korça, in cooperation with the Serious Crimes Prosecution Office. The action was part of an international co-ordinated operation by EUROPOL, located in Denmark, - the initiator country - Sweden, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Albania.
After this operation, has reacted the Interior Minister Sandër Lleshaj. Lleshaj, through a status on social networks, wrote that part of the crackdown on this operation are many members of organized crime.

Part of the hit are many involved in organized crime and large amounts of criminal assets. This proves the maturity, motivation, credibility and high professionalism of our law enforcement bodies," Lleshaj writes.
