This Sunday, the polling centers in Tirana have also been visited by foreigners who have received Albanian citizenship. One of them is the Italian Senator Luciano D'Alfonso, who from 2003-2009 has been the mayor of Pescara and has served as President of the Abruzzo region in Italy.

In a statement to the media, D'Alfonso stressed that he was heading toward the ballot box after the vote is a great victory from which should not be abandoned.

He underlined that the vote can never be a problem, as he stressed that voting means to appreciate, to know the great road that is making a city like Tirana, which is increasingly turning into a reference city throughout the world.

"Voting can never be a problem, especially for local elections. Voting means also to appreciate, to know the great path is making a city like Tirana that is becoming increasingly a reference city all over the world. Tirana is thus turning into a world capital, not only just for Albania. So voting means expressing your appreciation. I come from a great country like Italy, even when there are political problems, you can not give up on the vote. The vote is a big win," said D'Alfonso.

He addressed a message to other eligible foreigners in Albania. "That this great road should be supported towards Europe facing Albania's national democracy as well as the local democracy of cities like Tirana.

Good Work to all the mayors, a handshake for the whole political class. I wish for the rationale and the cooperation at all institutional levels to be again. Albania must be a light of Balkan passage towards Europe," said D'Alfonso.
