The number of new asylum seekers in the European Union has increased significantly in the first months of 2019, dpa news agency writes. This is the result of the crisis in Venezuela. The EU's warning system, which provides data for the first four months of this year, notes that 206,500 asylum applications have been registered in this period, compared to 179,000 at the same time last year. Data has been published by the European Asylum Authority, EASO.
