In her first messaage in her new office, the President of the EC has voiced support for the opening of negotiations for Albania and North Macedonia.
"I want to reaffirm the European perspective of the Western Balkans and see an important role in the ongoing reform process in the whole region, where we have the same continent, same history, the same culture and the same challenges.
I fully support and stand behind the European Commission's proposal to open negotiations with Northern Macedonia and Albania," emphasized President Ursula von der Leyen in political guidance for the upcoming Commission (2019-2024).
Ursula von der Leyen is the first woman to lead the European Commission.
