Honey Fair for the third year in a row in Librazhd

 The district of Librazhd is the largest producer of honey in Albania, but also of the highest quality. There are 6,000 hives throughout the Librazhd territory where hundreds of farmers continue their tradition of honey production.

For the third year in a row, the Municipality of Librazhd organizes the "Honey Fair", which this year is attended by 160 farmers bringing not only honey of quality but also other bio-products of the area.



We remind you that Albanians are an important producer of honey in the region and beyond, they have been so for millennias.

Referring to the writings of the renowned philosopher Aristotle, the Illyrians succeeded in making fine wine out of honey. The process has remained enigmatic, but if you refer to the philosopher, the wine nas been produced by squeezing the honeycombs some three thousand years ago, and so you can imagine what kind of wine it might be. Today's Albanians don't know anymore of how to produce this kind of wine, but they do enjoy a good scoop of this wonderful juice. But in fact, what makes the honey so popular in Albania? Most likely it is the ease with which it is used and consumed.
